Strategic Planning Director directs and oversees an organization's strategic and long-range goal planning function. Drives strategic initiatives and supports the development of long-term growth plans and profitability goals. Being a Strategic Planning Director analyzes emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, competitive threats, the viability of outside business partners, and sources of capital. Establishes and retains relationships with industry analysts and the investment community. Additionally, Strategic Planning Director utilizes data-driven methodologies to analyze business performance metrics and process improvement options effectively. Develops reporting and tools to communicate strategic plans and concepts to leadership. Conducts periodic status reviews of organizational goals and objectives to identify roadblocks to progress. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Strategic Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Strategic Planning Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Strategic Planning Director

    Location:  This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

    The Strategic Planning Director is responsible for managing the enterprise-wide planning process for a VP and above.

    How You Will Make an Impact:

    • Directs monthly/quarterly reporting process and annual operating plan development.

    • Ensures rationale is in sync with corporate strategic direction.

    • Develops annual business plan and quarterly forecast material and tools.

    • Coaches business planning participants on requirements, analysis, and deadlines.

    • Manages strategic projects, reports and analysis.

    • Leads the development and direction of selected issues and projects.  

    • Understands all aspects of the business and partners with executive leadership to define strategy and successful criteria for the future.  

    • Translates strategy into defined tactics, programs/projects priorities, and timelines and ensures alignment and attainment of enterprises' strategic plans to turn strategy into reality.  

    • Monitors, measures and communicates delivery against the business strategic plan and the quality of outcomes.

    • Researches relevant trends and activities in their area of expertise and works with business leadership to further define business strategy and sustain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

    • Builds and leverages relationships to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems.  

    • Proposes opportunities to improve results based on continuous needs assessment.  

    • Self-starter with strong relationship development and collaboration skills

    • High level of business acumen and strategic thinking

    • Basic understanding of healthcare including health plan metrics and what drives value

    • Detail Oriented with Strong Communication Skills both Oral and Written

    Minimum Requirements:

    Requires a BA/BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

    Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

    • Business knowledge in multiple disciplines within a Healthcare organization is strongly preferred

    • Prior strategy, management consulting, strategic planning, and/or project/program management experience is strongly preferred.

    • Strong PowerPoint presentation and storytelling skills preferred.

    • Strong Excel Skills (ability to summarize raw data) preferred.

    • Health Care Experience is preferred.

    • Travel may be required.

    For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $126,000 to $207,000.

    Locations:  California; Colorado; Hawaii; Nevada; New York; Washington State; Jersey City, NJ.
