Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for an SME 3 (Nuclear Materials and Strategic Planning) opportunity for our customer in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Summary
Nuclear Material Management Team and Storage Program require a senior-level candidate to support strategic planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and directs the daily tasks required to perform ongoing support of design, construction, startup and/or operations/ maintenance activities of complex high technology systems or projects Renders expert opinions on engineering and technical issues, provides recommendations to project design and construction teams in specific areas of expertise. Provides independent reviews and assessments in areas of specialized expertise and provides guidance to project teams in delivering results on projects of complex, high-technology nature. Interfaces with management personnel and customer representatives. Develops and enforces work standards, assigns schedules, reviews work quality, communicates goals, objectives, and policies of the organization to subordinates.
Provides leadership for the project team, coordinates with the functional organizations, and supervises senior personnel within the project organization.
Additional Job Requirements:
The Nuclear Material Management Team and Storage Program require a senior-level candidate to support strategic planning, provide effective recommendations to improve internal/external stakeholder interfaces, assist with storage requirements documentation, and assist with projecting program scope. This candidate will have extensive program management and/or project director level experience with negotiating and communicating metrics/performance with NNSA sponsors and other high-level stakeholders.
The candidate will be well versed in production, development, and surveillance cycles, specifically targeted at nuclear weapons systems. Thorough understanding of nuclear material requirements for current production is desired, as well as waste characterization, permitting, and regulatory requirements for radioactive waste to support programmatic value determination of nuclear materials. Strongly desired experience with various nuclear warhead/bomb systems at a component level. It is preferred that the candidate has excellent experience with budgeting, management, development, and execution of program scope for efforts that span various organizations constituting at least $20M-$50M and several years inexecution timeline. Integration of scope across multiple sites in the NNSA Weapons Enterprise is strongly preferred.
Education:
Position typically requires a master’s degree in Engineering, Science or Business Management. PhD degree preferred at this level.
Experience:
Twenty (20 years) of directly applicable experience in specialized technical field and is acknowledged as an expert in the specific area in question.
