    Position Summary & Responsibilities:

    Position Summary:

    This Storekeeper Specialist position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Construction & Materials. This position serves as the Storekeeper for more than 130 employees in the Division of Project Delivery and operates the stockroom at the Materials and Research Center. This stockroom services Bureau employees from the Materials and Research Center, two regional lab offices, and occasionally employees in all the Districts.

    Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

    • Directs and supervises activities involving the Bureau’s Stockroom, fills orders and issues materials over-the-counter, and prepares goods for transfer or shipping to the six districts.
    • Prepares the necessary paperwork for ordering materials, equipment, and office supplies that are stored in the stockroom and receives and examines office supplies, materials, equipment, and other goods. This position also verifies receipt of item, checks quantity and quality of received goods, and notes discrepancies.
    • Enters information in the “Inventory Management Online Processing” involving all data in the 300 Account, including both receivable and transfer information.
    • Completes annual inventory and conducts monthly spot checks of the stockroom, issues inventory reports to appropriate supervisors, develops and maintains a record keeping system to monitor stock quantities and determine reorder needs, and identifies minimum stock levels. This position also assesses the need for immediate stock acquisition and prepares the orders.
    • Establishes, modifies, and maintains receiving, storage, stocking, dispersing, and loan procedures. This position also prepares and maintains files for all transactions and records within the stockroom, maintains updated vendors’ catalogs, and keeps abreast of statewide contracts.
    • Maintains adequate inventory of personal safety equipment for issue to Bureau personnel.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • One year of experience in storekeeping, including receiving, inspecting, cataloging, and storing goods and maintaining inventory records.
    • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
    • Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in maintaining large stocks of supplies and stock records.
