JOB DUTIES
Explains characteristics and origin of items to customers.
Maintains a friendly, knowledgeable and courteous demeanor at all times.
Assists with various levels of merchandising such as inventory, stocking, displaying, tagging, etc.
Assists with opening or closing procedures.
Assists with training of staff.
May cross train on a cash register.
Make and record cash receipt transactions.
Assumes all responsibility for gift shop bank/till.
Keeps retail space neat and orderly.
Assists with sales products being properly and neatly displayed and stocked.
Assists with hauling supplies to/from retail location.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends.
Ability to handle stress under pressure.
Ability to provide quality customer service.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to learn, understands, and follows oral and written instructions/directions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
Familiarity with gift shop merchandise artists and vendors, knowing details and location of merchandise to facilitate sales.
Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a consistent basis.
Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to customers those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
Ability to pull, lift and carry supplies and equipment.
Ability to bend, squat, reach and retrieve items from above and in small confined areas.
Mechanical ability to put together display fixtures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least fourteen (14) years of age and be able to lift 50 lbs. without a problem.
Must be able to work an eight (8) hour shift if needed with the ability to stand or walk for long hours.
If applicable, must be able to pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
Current CPR and first aid certificates.
Drug testing may be required.
Prior Tram Operations experience.
High School Diploma or current enrolment in school.
Twelve (12) months of Retail experience in the field of receiving and/or stocking.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Constant movement in/out of an aerial tramway and lift operation, cabin up/down an 1800 ft.; constant exposure to extreme heights, and periodic exposure to dangerous equipment during emergency evacuations or power failures. Constant public interaction and communication, and must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs., constant bending, lifting, stooping is required to maintain adequate supplies. The Tram is a non-smoking facility with designated outside smoking areas.
