Statistician analyzes and interprets data from various sources. Forecasts trends using regression and other methods of statistical modeling. Being a Statistician works closely with other organizational groups to understand data and provide relevant, informative insights. Presents technical reports and findings to those groups. Additionally, Statistician uses knowledge of scripting and programming languages to clean, process, and analyze large data sets. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Statistician work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Position Summary:
    Position provides consulting, computer programming and research support in statistics for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, under the Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station Statistical Programs Unit. Employee carries out statistical data analysis and develops graphics for publications, presentations and computing workshops. Conducts independent and collaborative research on statistical problems related to agriculture.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Masters Degree in statistics, data science, agronomy, crop science, soil science, animal & veterinarian sciences, family and consumer sciences, plant pathology, entomology, agricultural economics, food science, weed science, ecology, plant or animal genetics, environmental science, forestry, natural resources, agricultural engineering, or horticulture.




    • Experience with writing and presentations.
    • Experience communicating with others, one-on-one, and in group settings.
    • Experience writing, debugging, and teaching programming primarily in the SAS statistical language.



    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in statistical consulting with an emphasis on agricultural research methods.
    • Experience in a variety of computing languages, such as Python, C , and R.
    • Familiarity with multiple computing environments, such as UNIX, Windows, and Macintosh systems.
