The Stationary Engineer position, located at Decatur Correctional Center, works on a small team of professional individuals to service the entire facility. The position performs a multitude of routine journeyman tasks. Candidates will be responsible for working as a team and individually to complete tasks within a timely manner. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized. We are looking for an energetic candidate who will be an integral part of the Stationary Engineers Team, who works with integrity and takes pride in their work. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all boiler room and other equipment related to the power plant.
Monitors the daily operation of steam boilers and all related equipment such as feed pumps, fans, circulatory pumps, etc.
Monitors and logs temperatures and pressures on air handling equipment.
Operates control panel to monitor, start, stop, take temperature, etc on all equipment room machinery.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of th eduties enumerated above.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requires ability to work from heights (on ladders, scaffold, platforms, and lifts), stand for long periods, and move heavy equipment, materials, structures, and furniture weighing up to 50 pounds independently and up to 75-100 pounds with assistance.

Relief employees may have their days off changed to accomodate the work schedule providing, they are afforded two (2) consecutive days off in the work week.
The work schedules of relief employees may not be changed shift to shift without twenty-four (24) hour notice, unless mutually agreed otherwise.
