Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal aids hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with stomas, draining wounds, fistulae, incontinence, or potential or actual tissue trauma. Manages patients with post-operative surgical wounds requiring packing or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers. Being an Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal provides support and education to patients and their families, including pre and post-operative teaching, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance/trouble-shooting. Requires a RN license and typically requires CWOCN, CWS, or CWCA certification. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. - Monitor and evaluate the progress of wound healing
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques and prevention strategies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes
Skills:
- Strong knowledge and experience in wound care management
- Proficient in performing venipuncture and other necessary procedures
- Ability to triage patients effectively in emergency situations
- Experience in acute care settings, such as ER or ICU
- Familiarity with hospice palliative medicine for end-of-life wound care
- Knowledge of infant care practices for pediatric patients with wounds
- Ability to catheterize patients as needed for wound management
- Experience working in nursing homes or long-term care facilities is preferred
- Understanding of behavioral health considerations in wound care
