Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal aids hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with stomas, draining wounds, fistulae, incontinence, or potential or actual tissue trauma. Manages patients with post-operative surgical wounds requiring packing or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers. Being an Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal provides support and education to patients and their families, including pre and post-operative teaching, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance/trouble-shooting. Requires a RN license and typically requires CWOCN, CWS, or CWCA certification. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Would Care Nurse communicates and collaborates closely with the Director of Nursing, physicians, Unit Managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to provide consistent quality care to those patients and residents with wounds. They also work closely with the Director of Staff Development, Infection Prevention and Control Officer as well as the Quality Improvement team to ensure that all nursing staff is educated in the principles of wound prevention and treatment. The Wound Care Nurse implements treatment modalities as assigned.
