Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal aids hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with stomas, draining wounds, fistulae, incontinence, or potential or actual tissue trauma. Manages patients with post-operative surgical wounds requiring packing or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers. Being an Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal provides support and education to patients and their families, including pre and post-operative teaching, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance/trouble-shooting. Requires a RN license and typically requires CWOCN, CWS, or CWCA certification. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. - Provide wound care and treatment to patients in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and primary care clinics.
- Assess and evaluate patients' wounds, including those with complex or chronic conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans based on patients' needs and medical history.
- Administer medications and perform procedures such as dressing changes, debridement, and wound irrigation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques, prevention strategies, and self-care at home.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
```Qualifications:```
- Valid nursing license and certification as a Wound Care Nurse.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities, neonatal ventilator support, spinal tap procedures, pediatrics, and catheter care.
- Strong knowledge of wound care principles, techniques, and evidence-based practices.
- Proficient in assessing wounds for infection, necrosis, or other complications.
- Familiarity with various wound care products and their appropriate use.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple patient cases simultaneously.
