Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal aids hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with stomas, draining wounds, fistulae, incontinence, or potential or actual tissue trauma. Manages patients with post-operative surgical wounds requiring packing or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers. Being an Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal provides support and education to patients and their families, including pre and post-operative teaching, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance/trouble-shooting. Requires a RN license and typically requires CWOCN, CWS, or CWCA certification. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. DCH Standards:
Current Alabama RN licensure. Associate degree in Nursing required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training required. Certified wound care associate, certified wound specialist or certified wound care nurse degree should be obtained within 18 months after three years of wound care experience. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
