ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Communication
· Communicate relevant information to managers, supervisors, physicians and co-workers to maintain continuity of operations.
Duties and Tasks
· Maintains communication between doctors and patients regarding diagnostic and procedure results. Follows through with informing the patient of lab tests, and biopsy results. Works with physician to provide optimal patient outcomes. Implements physician’s orders.
· Maintains pertinent documentation in patient’s medical records.
· Assesses patient complaints and symptoms telephonically and appropriately and accurately determines next step in patient’s plan of care under the direction of physician and/or mid level. Objectively documents the assessment and outlined plan of care in the patient’s medical record.
· Provides verbal education as well as educational materials to patients and families.
· Communicates information to physician to maintain continuity of care and alert physician of new developments in regards to his/her patient to determine appropriate plan of care.
· Performs nursing actions consistent with established policies and procedures within scope of practice of nursing license as defined by state of Nebraska.
· Maintains patient confidentiality and is compliant with the HIPAA regulations.
· Assist in daily clinic operations as needed to include but not limited to rooming patients, preparing charts, vital signs, assistance in procedures and phlebotomy.
· Provide Remicade infusions as ordered and directed after successful completion of orientation process of Remicade infusions if elected to do so.
· Attends meetings as directed by manager.
· Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Education
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
Licensing/Registration/Certification
· Valid State Registered Nurse License
· Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience
· Three to five years of clinical nursing experience preferred. Gastroenterology nursing background preferred
