The J.D. McCarty Center is looking for an Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse to join our team! You will be responsible for agency wide activities related to the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections in all patients and staff.
Salary ranging from: $68,580.00 to $74,500.00
Responsibilities:
Supervises and performs agency wide activities related to the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections in all patients and staff. Complies and interprets surveillance data and Infection Control QA data. Presents data to Infection Control Committee. Plans, implements, and evaluates measures taken to resolve infection control issues.
Plans, organizes and directs all in appropriate Infection Control and Employee Health activities. Monitors compliance with proper infection control techniques including isolation precautions. Provides direction to all staff concerning care of equipment, housekeeping, and health and safety conditions in improving quality of patient care and employee health.
Maintains up to date working knowledge of new developments related to the areas of employee health and infection control, and distributes information to staff.
Assures that the facility is compliant with the most recent recommendations and requirements issued by OSHA, CDC, and OSDH. Serves as a resource for staff, physicians, patients, parents, and community regarding Infection Control. Provides notification to appropriate personnel of communicable conditions and reports appropriately to OSDH. Maintains vaccine storage, documentation, and tracking necessary and required with VFC program and OSDH.
Must be a Certified Infection Preventionist or obtain certification within 3 years of employment.
Develops, implements, and evaluates Infection Control and Employee Health policies and procedures to include yearly reviews and updates. Confers with administration and department supervisors regarding the development of related policies as a whole.
Provides initial physical assessment of all new employees, reviews, tracks, and maintains all documentation related to immunizations and infectious disease exposure. Completes any follow-up on any immunization delinquencies prior to the new employee reporting to their work area. Provides new hire orientation related to infection control techniques and precautions.
Performs annual tuberculosis testing and/or screening, provides immunizations as appropriate per policy and initiates post exposure follow-up from blood/body fluids as per OSHA guidelines. Completes any follow-up on any immunization delinquencies of current employees to ensure hospital policy compliance.
Supervises the Vaccines for Children program including: screening, procurement, administration, and documentation of all patient related immunizations.
Provides tracking and monitoring of statistics related to patient wounds status, including wound measurements, treatment interventions, and infection status as it related to the facility wound care protocol.
May provide nursing back up duties to the hospital units in the event of a nursing staff shortage or increased acuity need. Fulfills scheduled on call days as assigned by the Director of Nursing or designee due to emergent need.

J.D. McCarty Center is a pediatric rehabilitation hospital for children with disabilities birth to 21 years of age. We are a unique 36 bed hospital. Patient are admitted for a 30-day evaluation during which they are assigned a treatment team consisting of nursing unit, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional services, social services, psychological services, behavioral analysis, and recreational therapy. Our 80-acre s campus includes an on-site elementary, intermediate, and high school which is staffed by Norman Public School teachers. Patients may continue treatment needs beyond the 30-days as an in-patient in habilitation status based upon progress or placement needs.
