Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control performs hospital-wide surveillance and data collection as part of an overall infection-control program. Investigates possible incidences of infection and implements remedial action. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control works with the infection control committee to establish infection control standards and procedures, and educates staff on how to prevent and control infections. Informs the appropriate state and county organizations of any reportable infections and diseases. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. May require CIC certification. Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Job Summary
We are looking for dependable, professional, and detail-oriented Infection Control Nurse (RN) to join our highly respected team of professionals. The Infection Control nurse will have responsibility for the monitoring, prevention and control of infections and communicable diseases within the facility.
Job Responsibilities- Educate staff on infection prevention protocols and ensure facility is compliant with current infection control practices
- Gather and analyze infection data including tracking and trending by disease category
- Participate in evidenced-based decision making to strengthen facility standards of care
- Provide guidance and education to direct care staff on best nursing practices related to the management of infectious diseases
- Maintain resident and staff records in compliance with HIPAA, OSHA and other agency privacy standards
- Report infectious disease trends to the management team, local, state and federal agencies as required
- Collaborate with external agencies, physicians and facility managers to ensure infection control best practices are developed and maintained throughout the facility
- Possess a strong understanding of long-term care federal and state regulations
- Provide patient education and teaching as needed
- Work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively to other team members
- Other duties as required
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school with an active RN license
- Excellent organization and communication skills required
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure required
- Excellent customer service skills required
- CPR Certification required
- Basic computer skills required; experience with Point Click Care preferred
