Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control performs hospital-wide surveillance and data collection as part of an overall infection-control program. Investigates possible incidences of infection and implements remedial action. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control works with the infection control committee to establish infection control standards and procedures, and educates staff on how to prevent and control infections. Informs the appropriate state and county organizations of any reportable infections and diseases. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. May require CIC certification. JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director, this position is responsible for components of the Infection Control Program. This position is very independent and deals with sensitive, confidential and regulatory information on a daily basis. Key responsibilities include: maintaining knowledge base of current infection prevention and control information and regulatory compliance requirements. Participation in strategic planning and consultation to ensure identification and implementation of infection control goals, standards and objectives. Participates in preparation for accreditation and other regulatory review. Serves as content expert/consultant on infection control issues. Evaluates and monitors staff and physician compliance with Infection Control Policies and Procedures. Follows up with education, training and development of policies and procedures as needed. Reports non-compliance to management or physician leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degreee
California RN License
At least 4 years in an acute care hospital with 2 years in infection control
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask
Good understanding of statistics
Excellent computer skills to include Excel and PowerPoint
Infection Conrol Certification (preferred on hire) - required within 3 years in the position

The expected hiring range for this position is $52.95 to $72.81
