Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control performs hospital-wide surveillance and data collection as part of an overall infection-control program. Investigates possible incidences of infection and implements remedial action. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control works with the infection control committee to establish infection control standards and procedures, and educates staff on how to prevent and control infections. Informs the appropriate state and county organizations of any reportable infections and diseases. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. May require CIC certification. Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Clinical Resource Float Staff Nurse (RN) to work weekend nights for the Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division. CRU Team 4 areas include the following units: Adult Acute Care, Transplant and General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, General Medicine, Hematology/Oncology & Urology, Adult Bone Morrow Transplant, Medical Observation, Short Stay Recovery, and Medical Psychiatry.
Percent of Time: 60% (24 hours/week)
Schedule: Saturday/Sunday Nights, 2300 - 0730Location: CRU Team 4 (Medical Surgical Services Division) UIHC Main Campus
Rotations: Rotating holidays

Education Required
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Experience Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
- General computer skills are required, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
Desirable Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is highly desired
- If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
- A minimum of 2 years of inpatient nursing experience, preferably within the last 5 years, is highly desired.
