Records patient histories, performs various diagnostic tests, administers medications, and develops patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Hospice performs examinations and prescribed procedures, operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Observes patients' condition and records observations in patient medical records. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Hospice typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. Staff Nurse - RN - Hospice's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Staff Nurse provides skilled nursing care to individuals and families, based on an ongoing nursing assessment of need. The Staff Nurse implements, and evaluates nursing care through systematic assessment of health needs and optimum utilization of personnel. Provides care and assistance to patients and families during on-call hours as scheduled.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Current licensure in the state of Kentucky.
- Knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing practice.
- At least one year experience in a patient care position in a hospital, nursing home, or related healthcare facility preferred.
- Hospice or palliative care experience preferred.
- Proficient in electronic documentation.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective documentation and oral communication skills.
- PR Certification required
- Desires to work as part of a team and willing to represent the principles, views and mission of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky.
