Staff Nurse - RN - Flight Transport provides professional nursing care to critically injured or ill patients throughout all phases of emergency ground and air transportation. Evaluates and treats patients prior to and during transport, ensuring patient safety and implementing life support measures as needed. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Flight Transport monitors patient condition, documents nursing care, and reports patient status to clinical staff at receiving medical facility. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Flight Transport typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. May require Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) certification. Requires a valid state RN license. Staff Nurse - RN - Flight Transport's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Job Summary

    Provides professional nursing care, focusing on the episode of care for complex patients with unpredictable outcomes being transported by air or ground ambulance. This position involves the integration of in-depth pathophysiologic concepts and utilization of knowledge of pharmacology and advanced skills along with critical thinking and independent decision making in order to enhance the care of the critically ill or severely injured patient in the unique environments of air medical and ground transport. Reports to Manager.

    Qualifications

    • BSN required
    • Minimum three years critical care experience (ICU or ED). One year of this experience must be in an ICU.
    • Certification in the following areas: Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or, Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN)
    • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and CPR certification
    • CT and RI Paramedic License
    • Advance skills: endotracheal intubation, cricothyroidotomy, pericardiocentesis, peripheral and central venous access, introsseous infusion, umbilical venous catheterization and needle thoracotomy.
