Job Summary: The Writer is a key member of the Strategic Communications team, writing clear, accurate, compelling, and motivating content for a wide variety of Wilson Language Training (WLT) resources in support of multiple departments, functions, and needs. Working closely with the Strategic Writing Manager, the Senior Director of Strategic Program Development, and various stakeholders, the Writer writes and edits across both print and digital media – in short, long, technical, and direct marketing formats, ensuring the high-quality and timeliness of all assigned deliverables. In addition, the Writer may be asked to research, collect, organize, and distribute information for use in news releases, media requests, news briefs, and related materials.
Essential Job Functions
- Research opportunities for compelling stories in support of Wilson’s mission and to promote the Wilson brand.
- Interview Wilson teachers, students, and graduates to write strong, motivating content, including success stories, social media posts, blogs, and other appropriate content types, within the Wilson brand’s style and tone guidelines for assigned projects.
- Interview subject matter experts to create articles, blogs, web pages, infographics, executive briefs, white papers, digital publishing, copy for banner and print ads and email promotions.
- Support the development of technical reports and research case studies by working with subject matter experts.
- Post selected news releases to online and print media outlets.
- Support content contributions to social media and marketing strategy team members including communication campaigns.
- Obtain and manage testimonials, communication releases, and photos/images used with published stories.
- Assist in auditing Wilson global web properties, ensuring they are up to date with relevant copy, content, and functional links.
- Contribute to the team’s efforts to ensure alignment and integration of key communication elements, including print, electronic, internet and trade shows, in relevant internal and external communications campaigns.
- Develop scripts for video and audio production.
- Clearly and confidently present work to internal teams.
- Work collaboratively in a multifunctional team to implement compelling campaigns, build relationships, communicate, and brand stories.
- Be a self-starter and work independently on projects.
- Understand and display WLT values.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Polished professional with a track record of success.
- Outstanding research, communication, planning, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills for print and web to ensure accuracy, completeness and excellence in all published material.
- Portfolio of strong, professional writing for both long- and short-form content.
- Experience writing and editing for a variety of audiences in the education profession with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals both inside and outside of the organization.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Extremely deadline and detail oriented.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or public relations related experience; Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years related experience.
- Developing content for educational products and/or services preferred.
