Are you an energetic, curious and enterprising local journalist? We are seeking someone who cares about community news and wants to focus on local and regional issues important to the people who live in the Oxford Hills. In this role, you will be responsible for reporting, writing and photographing news and feature stories for the Advertiser-Democrat and sunjournal.com, working with other Maine Trust for Local News journalists to generate stories and other content of interest to readers.
Responsibilities
Develop a strong network of sources in multiple communities
Be aware of local events, news and trends relevant to our readers
Assist with start-up weekly newsletter product focused on interesting people, places and happenings
Provide help to proof pages as needed
High energy and enthusiasm for the mission of the Maine Trust for Local News
Able to file content quickly to prioritize digital publication
Attentive to details, including grammar, spelling, Associated Press style
Demonstrate good organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively and work with people respectfully
Reliable, dependable and able to maintain regular and punctual attendance
Be proactive and able to take initiative to solve problems and anticipate needs.
Have reliable transportation and clean driving record
This is an in-office position with limited remote work.
