Speech and Language Pathology Director plans and directs the operations of an organization's audiology and speech therapy functions to ensure effective operation and compliance with regulatory standards. Designs policies and processes to ensure efficient service delivery and promote best practices. Being an Speech and Language Pathology Director develops and implements long-term strategic plans and objectives for audiology and speech therapy programs in alignment with the organization's overall objectives. Provides leadership and oversight to the development and expansion of programs or service offerings. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathology Director evaluates program design, assessment tools, and treatment protocols and researches advancements in the field. Develops and manages the budget to allocate resources to support staffing, equipment, and other program needs. Monitors operational and financial metrics to measure the achievement of organizational objectives. Negotiates and selects vendor proposals and manages vendors to maintain inventories and adhere to budgets. May require a master's degree in audiology or speech pathology. Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to senior management. The Speech and Language Pathology Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Speech and Language Pathology Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.       Minimum Requirements
      Minimum Requirements
      Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene license for Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.
      Must be enrolled in an approved program of study to earn a Certificate of Clinical Competence within one year of hire date. Must complete an approved program of study and earn a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech Hearing and Language Association in addition to holding a Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited college or university within three additional years.
      Broad knowledge of research-based strategies that lead to increased student achievement.
      Knowledge and experience using Assistive Technology and instructional technology.
      Commitment to WCPS Master Plan, its goals and objectives, and attaining SPI as defined by MSDE.
      Strong background in communication intervention
      Evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills.
      Evidence of ability to organize, facilitate, and manage multiple tasks.
      Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
      Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

      Preferred Qualifications
      Experience working in educational settings.
      Experience working with students with multiple disabilities.
      Experience programing and utilizing assistive communication devices.
      Currently enrolled in an approved program of study to earn Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
      Role Responsibilities
      Implement intervention plans developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
      Maintain complete and accurate documentation of services provided.
      Complete Medical Assistance billing
      Stay apprised of current literature, research, and instructional strategies in speech/language therapy.
      Preparation, organization and maintenance of materials and equipment.
      Facilitate the use of technology for communication.
      Assist speech-language pathologist in case manager duties, to include: chart preparation, record keeping
      Work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff to enhance student achievement.
      Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
      Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
