Speech and Language Pathology Director plans and directs the operations of an organization's audiology and speech therapy functions to ensure effective operation and compliance with regulatory standards. Designs policies and processes to ensure efficient service delivery and promote best practices. Being an Speech and Language Pathology Director develops and implements long-term strategic plans and objectives for audiology and speech therapy programs in alignment with the organization's overall objectives. Provides leadership and oversight to the development and expansion of programs or service offerings. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathology Director evaluates program design, assessment tools, and treatment protocols and researches advancements in the field. Develops and manages the budget to allocate resources to support staffing, equipment, and other program needs. Monitors operational and financial metrics to measure the achievement of organizational objectives. Negotiates and selects vendor proposals and manages vendors to maintain inventories and adhere to budgets. May require a master's degree in audiology or speech pathology. Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to senior management. The Speech and Language Pathology Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Speech and Language Pathology Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Speech Language Pathology Assistant needed for a full time vacancy in a school setting for the upcoming school year. Position would be covering 1-2 buildings with a reasonable caseload. Must be eligible for state license and able to receive it within 30 days of accepting the position.

    The primary purpose of the school based Speech Language Pathology Assistant position is to provide treatment of students in a school setting, who demonstrate speech, language and swallowing deficits with the goal of helping them reach their maximum performance potential within an educational model of practice.

    Responsibilities

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of a supervising SLP, participate on a team that has the responsibility for the identification, eligibility, and placement of speech and language impaired students. Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students. Participate in staff meetings, planning events, department/special education meetings, manifestation determination meetings, FBA/BIP meetings, and eligibility, evaluation, and placement meetings. Communicate with other professionals providing services for students to insure continuity and coordination of program. Work directly with students to implement IEP goals and objectives. Develop therapy schedules and provide speech language pathology (SLP) services for students with speech and language impairments from preschool through 12th grade in accordance with their IEP. Help evaluate, implement and monitor augmentative communication devices for appropriate students including devices for deaf and hard of hearing students. Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals using state standards, subject matter content and district curriculum. Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement. Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success. Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement, and meeting special education laws and policies. Participate in and facilitate various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies. Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by State and Federal regulations and district policy. Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract. Fulfill other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Ability to address a variety of speech/language deficits. Current knowledge of assistive technology. Knowledge of applicable State and federal rules and regulations. Knowledge of subject matter/course content relevant to assignment. Knowledge and understanding of child development. Ability to effectively meet developmental needs of students. Ability to assess and evaluate student progress and achievement. Knowledge of and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices. Ability to adapt and modify techniques and materials for effectiveness as needed. Skills and abilities in organization, time management and recordkeeping. Ability to work independently. Ability to collaborate effectively with others. Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents, students, staff and administrators. Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with a variety of constituents. Ability to operate technology devices and specific software programs. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability and commitment to strengthen job-related competencies.

    Educational Requirements:

    Bachelor s degree in Speech and Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders and must qualify for state licensure/certification.
