Speech and Language Pathology Director directs the programs and staff of the speech and pathology department by providing exams, tests, diagnoses, and treatments for patients with speech disorders. Sets and implements guidelines for speech and pathology programs. Being a Speech and Language Pathology Director assigns therapists and monitors patient progress and treatment plans. Records test results and recommends treatment. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathology Director may require professional certification. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Speech and Language Pathology Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments.     Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Providing quality supervision to clinical fellows and/or SLPAs per California and ASHA guidelines.
    • Evaluating and diagnosing a variety of speech and language impairments/disorders from birth to adults.
    • Educating families and staff on how to effectively implement carry-over exercise programs
    • Treating speech and language impairments/disorders from birth to adults
    • Aiming for positive outcomes using evidence-based treatments
    • Collaborating with parents, teachers, physicians, and other allied health professionals.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Active California speech-language pathology license
    • ASHA certification
    • Must have a current TB test and pass a background check
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
    • Time management and organizational skills
    • Collaborative, team-oriented, and enthusiastic
