Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home jobs in Flint, MI

Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments in a nursing home or long term care setting. Conducts patient evaluation of speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating and counseling the patient. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home documents assessment and patient progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Ensures that treatment aligns with patient needs and is within the parameters set by the payer. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology or equivalent. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and may require a state license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.     We are seeking a PRN Speech-Language Pathologist with LTC experience to join our in-house therapy department. Under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation, aids in the restoration and enhancement of independent function or maximizes independence and function in those individuals whose living status has been compromised by illness and/or injury. Evaluates and treats patients, communicates with families, physicians and other interdisciplinary team members, and documents services in the medical record.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Provides resident/patient treatment which meets their needs, and uses current treatment knowledge in accordance with the Facility clinical procedures.

    2. Provides accurate, complete and clear documentation in accordance with the Facility’s policies and procedures, regulatory, licensing, payer and accrediting requirements.

    3. Consistently demonstrate the Facility’s interdisciplinary approach to resident/patient care.

    4. Works within outpatient therapy clinic as needed.

    5. Contributes to professional development of self and others.

    6. Aids in building and maintaining the Facility’s reputation as a professional member of staff.

    7. Demonstrates safe working practices.

    8. Performs all other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Current Speech-Language Pathology License for State of Michigan.

    Knowledge of computers and software.

    Experience with developing care plans.
