Speech and Language Pathologist - Home Care assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments in a home care setting. Conducts evaluations of an individual's speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist - Home Care develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating, and counseling. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist - Home Care completes required documentation to record assessment and progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers to provide effective therapies. Ensures that treatment that is provided aligns with patient needs and is within the guidelines set by the payer. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology. Typically requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager. Speech and Language Pathologist - Home Care's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to write routine reports and required correspondence as required by BrightStar Speech Therapist guidelines. Ability to respond professionally on behalf of BrightStar. Must be able to appropriately respond to and maintain confidential information at all times.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS
Requires the ability to prioritize and complete work on time, be detail-oriented, exhibit a service orientation to both staff and clients and be a professional team player with a positive attitude. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Must possess the ability to handle confidential information and act as the BrightStar spokesperson. Must also possess the ability to respond appropriately in an objective manner in all situations. Effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the client. Requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology and/or kinesiology. Also must have the ability to evaluate and treat speech, language and hearing disorders. Must also have knowledge of relevant diagnostic tests and procedures. Must have the ability to demonstrate solid judgment and discretion. Must also demonstrate a sense of understanding and urgency for priorities. Will require the ability to appropriately troubleshoot and escalate where necessary, problems/issues to the appropriate individual. Must also have the ability to use the computer, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Requires familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
