Summary:

Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a highly qualified Speech Writer to provide professional services and support to the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Commanding General (CG) and the TRADOC G2. Under the CORE contract, TRADOC G2 supports the CG's Office with independent and unbiased critical review/alternative perspective examination of concepts, other written products, organizational designs, and processes; and conducts independent analysis to support strategic initiatives or other high priority tasks.

The Speech Writer will craft speeches and presentations for the CG's office. The Speech Writer's responsibilities include preparing speeches suited to the audience and platform, completing revisions according to government feedback, and meeting all deadlines. The speechwriter should be able to analyze the voice and tone of the speaker and prepare a speech best suited to the individual. The Speech Writer should understand TRADOC's mission, be detail-orientated, and have excellent research skills and craft speeches with the audience in mind.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

The contractor shall provide specialized support 40 hours per week as outlined below.

• Meet with CG TRADOC and his staff as appropriate to discuss the specifics of each speech, which may include structure, points of emphasis, content, and overall style.
• Conduct research to obtain interesting facts and statistics that can be used in the speech.
• Submit speech outlines with accompanying slides (as appropriate) and subsequent drafts for approval to COL Cantu and Ms. Susan Anthony in CG's office.
• Ensure that the speech is conversational and that the objectives will be clear to the audience.
• Double-check that the speech is in a suitable format to be read off cue cards or a teleprompter.
• Ensure the speaker is aware of how to incorporate visual aids or props into their speech.
• Scheduling a rehearsal session with the speaker if required and providing them with tips and advice.
• Implement the speaker's feedback and complete any edits to the speech as soon as possible.

Required Qualifications:

• Background in military history
• Comprehensive senior level experience
• Comfortable briefing senior military and civilian leaders (GO/SES up to and including 4-star level)
• Working knowledge of TRADOC's mission, core competencies, and core functions
• Understanding of TRADOC's relationship with other Army commands, HQDA, the other Services, DoD, and joint communities
• Able to look at problems from multiple alternative points of view
• Possess proficiency in Windows office applications and the execution of on-line research.

Clearance: Secret clearance is required.

Location: FT Eustis, VA.

Travel: Some travel may be required.
