Job Overview:
Operates a press brake to manufacture tools, equipment, and other components from sheet metal or metal plates. Prepares, sets up, and adjust press brakes as required by product plans and production schedules. Ensures that there are sufficient raw materials available. Measures and aligns materials with being used.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Report to work on time for your shift
· Contact your supervisor about any unexpected absences with as much notice as possible
· If receiving a paid holiday, work a full shift the day before
· Wear all personal protective equipment that has been provided to you
· Report any accidents
· Wear a seat belt at all times when operating the forklifts – an OSHA requirement
· Properly maintain your machine as you have been instructed and keep the records updated
· Set up and operate the machine properly and safely using work instructions
· Have the first part inspected by an inspector
· Check all subsequent parts according to the inspection schedule. It is recommended to have another operator check periodically, if possible, to ensure you are still within tolerances.
· Comply with safety procedures and company policies
· Clock all operations accurately and report any errors as soon as possible
· Ensure you have counted and recorded the number of good parts you completed, and put your initials beside the count on the Traveler before moving them to the next operation
· Report any shortages of parts or material to your supervisor or a Sales team member.
· Report any deviations/bad parts/lost material using the computer system
· Properly tag and identify any non-conforming material or parts and notify the Quality Manager
· Properly store all tooling
· Report the need to order new tooling to the Engineering
· Keep your workspace clean and neat daily
· Report any spills or leakages
· Interact with Sales, Production, and Engineering as needed – if you have questions, DO NOT assume - ask
· Other related duties as requested
Qualifications:
· Blueprint Reading/Basic Shop Math/Measuring Instruments
· Verbal and written communication skills
· On-the-Job training for
o Level II -1500 hours,
o Level III - 3000 hours,
o Level IV -4500 hours,
o Level V - 6000 hours
· Towmotor training - required every three years, unless an unsafe act/accident occurs
· Hazmat training
· Press Brake Training Module
· Press Brake Class from Amada, Wake Tech or another equivalent educational institution OR
additional 2000 hours of experience and competency signed off by Level V operator.
