    Position Summary

    Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance Technician’s chief responsibility is to preserve excellent condition and functionality of our two business premises. Your duties will include conducting quality assessments, repairing equipment, maintaining maintenance inventory and developing preventative maintenance procedures. Our ideal candidate will be a jack-of-all-trades, with in-depth knowledge of maintenance procedures and electrical and mechanical systems. To excel in this position, you must be an outstanding problem-solver with exceptional communication and organizational skills. 


    Essential Functions

    • Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns
    • Repairs and Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions, electrical and mechanical issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules
    • Equipment Installation and Upgrades: Assist in the installation, assembly, and setup of new machinery, including electrical connections, pneumatic systems, and mechanical components. Collaborate with other teams to integrate new equipment and implement upgrades or modifications
    • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and equipment performance data. Report any issues, equipment failures, or maintenance requirements to supervisors or relevant personnel
    • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety standards, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies
    • Spare Parts Management: Assist in maintaining an inventory of critical spare parts and consumables, identifying reorder points, and managing the stock to ensure availability when needed
    • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance. Make recommendations for process optimization, equipment upgrades, and maintenance strategies to enhance overall productivity
    • Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with production and other departments to prioritize maintenance activities, minimize disruptions, and ensure smooth operations. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and external vendors or contractors as required

    Requirements

    • Must have a valid driver's license 
    • Must be willing to travel between two locations in Racine and Sturtevant 
    • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
    • Must be well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building
    • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees of the building in a pleasant manner
    • Solid understanding of safety practices and regulations within a manufacturing environment
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team when required
    • Effective communication skills to convey information and collaborate with cross-functional teams
    • Flexibility to work in shifts, on-call, or weekends, depending on the facility's operational needs

    Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • Proven experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting
    • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as industrial controls and automation.
    • Proficient in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
    • Familiarity with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and software for troubleshooting and repairs
    • Experience/knowledge with Lasers, Press brakes and Powder Paint systems a definite plus

    Physical Demands

    • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, hands, fingers, legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling of materials, and operating machinery
    • Perform repetitive motions using your hands and fingers such as, but not limited to, grasping, gripping, and holding
    • Carrying & lifting 10 – 75 pounds frequently.
    • Ability to endure hours exposed to heat
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus
