May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Additionally, Specialty Pharmacy Technician requires a high school diploma. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medications under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to accurately interpret prescriptions and medication orders
- Perform calculations to determine appropriate medication dosages
- Maintain inventory of medications and supplies, ensuring proper storage and labeling
- Assist in the preparation of sterile IV infusions using aseptic technique
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing their medication-related inquiries and concerns
- Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system
- Perform medication reconciliation for patients upon admission and discharge
Requirements:
- Valid Pharmacy Technician certification or license
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy practices
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations and procedures
- Proficiency in medication administration techniques, including inhalation medications
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform calculations accurately
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
