Specialty Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense high dollar/specialty medications (e.g. Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis). Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Specialty Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Additionally, Specialty Pharmacy Technician requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician works under moderate supervision. Duties:
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications to patients

Experience:
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required
- Experience working as a pharmacy technician in an independent pharmacy setting preferred
- Proficiency in nonsterile compounding techniques
- Knowledge of medication names, uses, and dosages
- Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems for prescription processing and inventory management
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
