Specialty Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense high dollar/specialty medications (e.g. Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis). Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Specialty Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Additionally, Specialty Pharmacy Technician requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician works under moderate supervision. Required:
Three months pharmacy technician experience
Registered Technician with Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
Completion of an on-the-job (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program within the first year of employment if needed. (We provide this!)
Preferred:
Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program
One-year pharmacy technician experiecne in a call center environment
