  • Position Summary:
    Under limited supervision leads, manages, directs and monitors overall daily operations of a Club with primary
    concern for program and service delivery/outcomes. He/she will be responsible for recruiting and retaining staff
    as well as training and development. Maintains targeted membership and attendance while utilizing volunteers
    as necessary.
    Essential Responsibilities:
    Club Leadership and Strategic Planning
     Monitor program sheets for quality with measured outcome for specific programs
     Ensure growth in daily attendance, registered members, and total youth served
     Report average daily attendance compliance and manage child‐to‐staff ratio for maximum capacity
     Maintain membership retention plan as defined in the Club Policies & Procedures
     Create and increase number of outreach opportunities
     Learn and utilize BGCA programming
    Club Management and Development
     Knowledgeable about all grant requirements
     Manage grant requirements and member participation to satisfy grant requirements
     Meet and support unit and board fundraising obligations assigned in budget
     Accurately collect, record, and submit all expenditure receipts/invoices as required in the Financial Policies &
    Procedures; Provide completed purchase orders for planned expenditures
     Actively participate in budget development for the Club to include program supplies, field trips, fundraising
    goals, etc.
     Ensure growth in annual operating revenue and work to establish relationships that will assist in establishing
    financial resources to offset budgeted expenditures
     Collaborate with parents to share and receive information about programs
     Promote and maintain a parent auxiliary
     Maintain parent and community active support in Club programs
     Establish relationship(s) with school system(s) to communicate information about members
     Involve school, community, and elected leaders in Club events
     Continually build relationships with other youth service organizations and collaborate with other agencies to
    share and develop programs
     Actively participate in local community groups; Maintain records of all collaborations
     Maintain all aspects of the facility including: janitorial, general maintenance, supply orders, grounds keeping,
    risk assessment, facility usage management, etc.

     Implement contingency plans for emergencies
     Address and resolve safety/health issues aggressively
     Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcement of upcoming events and the
    dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promoting through mailings, fliers
    and media releases
    Club Programs and Services
     Plan and oversee the administration of the designated Club program and activities that support Youth
    Development Outcomes
     Establish Club program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission
     Oversee the provision of day‐to‐day program activities in accordance with the policies & procedures of
    the organization and established goals
     Ensure that the members are encouraged to participate in a variety of fun program areas/activities and
    receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s)
     Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members
     Consult with parents concerning member and unit issues
     Establish and maintain Club program goals and a fun environment that ensure the health and safety of
    members
     Establish Club programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success; program curriculum must
    follow grant requirements & programming goals
     Ensure that the Club staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program; that they ensure
    program areas are clean, safe, well ventilated, and well lit; and the Club equipment is maintained and in good
    working condition
     Develop and implement long‐term goals to achieve the successful outcome of the program
     Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and use outcome measurements as the program
    evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement
     Ensure programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity
     Responsible for developing and implementing a schedule for all Club programs and events, and the
    dissemination of timely information
     Submit all reports on a timely basis using correct and complete data
     Interview, select, train and provide orientation to skilled staff able to implement a variety of programs
     Interview exiting employees
     Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers
     Allocate and monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff
     Inform staff of organizational plans, activities, challenges, and opportunities
     Provide staff with continual feedback, training, and evaluations
     Effectively conduct weekly staff meetings with training and development opportunities and components
     Coordinate the work of the program staff team in a smooth functioning manner
     Ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct reports and defined and
    understood
     Maintain accurate record of staff payroll timesheets ensuring all documents are accurate and correctly
    documented in all related systems
     Build and manage volunteer base
     Preparation and tracking of volunteer participation and hours
    Additional Responsibilities:
     Review and respond to e‐mails, voicemails and other forms of communication within one business day
     May oversee special programs and/or events and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities
    as necessary
     May be required to run sessions in classrooms if instructor not available
     May be required to drive Club van/bus periodically
     May handle deposits and banking transactions
     Participate with staff in organizational events, special community events, and fundraisers

    Essential Skills & Experience:
     Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university preferred, or equivalent
    experience
     A minimum of five years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and
    supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people
     Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management , and the recruitment and retention of
    key personnel
     Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
     Good leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
     Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff
     Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems
     Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management
     Skills in fundraising events and volunteer management
     Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents, and community leaders
     Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
     Must obtain a Commercial Driver License within 60 days of position
     Ability to work extended hours and weekends, when needed
    Microsoft Suite knowledge and basic computer expertise
    Valued Skills & Experience:
     Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
     Ten years’ relevant work experience

    Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, supervisor,
    and administrative staff to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct;
    and advise/counsel.
    External: Maintain contact with other Clubs, vendors, consultants, organizations, government agencies, and
    others to achieve program goals and objectives, manage costs, share information, and resolve problems.
