Special Education Director - Partner Districts
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Partner Districts
DEPARTMENT: Administration
POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary responsibility of the Special Education Director - Partner Districts is to direct special education programs and services in the assigned partner district.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Makes necessary decisions within the assigned partner district to provide for effective and efficient delivery of special education services.
Supervises, observes, and evaluates the performance of instructional staff members who report to this position.
Facilitates the development, implementation, review and revision of special education curricula, progress monitoring, data analysis, instructional decision making and direct instructional delivery.
Supervises special education coordinators to ensure the provision of best practice special education instruction, supports for general education and special education services.
Evaluates work performance of the coordinators reporting directly to this position.
Provides leadership in program development and evaluation.
Screens, interviews, recommend the employment/termination and assignment of staff to Human Resources or other appropriate personnel.
Facilitates the development and implementation of staff development for professional and paraprofessional staff to ensure best practice programming, high quality instruction and ultimately ever-improving student outcomes.
Facilitates and leads the development, implementation, and refinement of supports for staff across best practice programming and high quality direct instruction.
Uses data to anticipate programmatic needs, support student achievement and recommend improvements.
Participates in the development and is responsible for the implementation of district-wide initiatives such as the: CSIP, Rolling Plan and Partnership Plan, Disproportionality, etc.
Plans, prepares, and delivers reports and presentations to the SSD and partner district Board of Education on a regular basis.
Provides leadership in technical and other area(s) as designated.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Missouri DESE special education administrator certification required
Missouri DESE special education teacher certification required
Minimum of five years prior special education teaching experience required
Minimum of two years prior special education administration experience required
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary Starting at $115,000
