    • Provides support in the coordination of event planning including timing, venue, program, audio-visual needs, food and beverages, sales, media coverage, music, and décor.
    • Develops invitation lists and ensures timely distribution in advance of the event.
    • Conducts inspections and walk-throughs to detect potential problems and resolves issues prior to events.
    • Reviews and monitors all event-related printed materials to ensure such materials are produced in accordance with organizational policies.
    • Maintains timeline of activities associated with the staging of each event and communicates the timeline to staff impacted by the event.
    • Reviews event-related bills and coordinates payment of invoices.

    Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-09 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-07 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience routinely assisting with planning and coordinating the scheduling, venue, program, and media coverage of special events; maintaining a timeline of activities associated with the staging of each event; and coordinating the establishment of guest lists.
    OR
    Education: Successful completion of two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B or JD if related. Related degrees may include Event Management; Event Planning; Event Management and Planning; Hospitality; Hospitality Management; Recreation, Park and Tourism; Recreation, Park and Tourism Management, or a closely related field.
    OR
    A combination of graduate education and experience as described above.

    GS-11

    Education: Successful completion of three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a doctorate degree or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or LL.M., if related. Related degrees may include Event Management; Event Planning; Event Management and Planning; Hospitality; Hospitality Management; Recreation, Park and Tourism; Recreation, Park and Tourism Management, or a closely related field.
    OR
    A combination of graduate education and experience as described above.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
