  • Duties

    • Leads management, implementation and delivery of research-based activities related to primary prevention of Interpersonal and Self-Directed Violence (ISDV) with the intent to stimulate change in knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors in general and target populations. Develops and delivers prevention activities as part of DAF-wide integrated prevention and resilience efforts, in addition to specific needs identified by installation or MAJCOM/Field Command community partners and leadership. Stays up to date on current research related to primary prevention and incorporates this knowledge into prevention activities based on the needs and issues of the community.
    • Uses professional knowledge to lead installation prevention training team efforts to include all mandatory integrated prevention and resilience training as required by DoD, DAF, MAJCOM/Field Command and installation leadership. Collaborates with installation prevention partners on content and delivery of ongoing primary prevention training and education. Collaborates with relevant prevention stakeholders within and outside the military to maximize prevention capabilities and reduce factors that contribute to harmful behaviors and advises leadership on issues.
    • Community Action Team member directly supporting execution of established initiatives and development of the installation Community Action Plan (CAP). Communicates program implementation progress to installation Community Action Team (CAT) and leadership through diverse means. Encourages and facilitates collaborative partnerships to improve the delivery of primary prevention and resilience activities and programs by establishing a seamless system of coordinated services, activities and training.
    • Develop and deliver effective primary prevention and resilience strategic communication and marketing that drives healthy and positive cultural norms leading to a resilient Total Force and families. Advises leadership within the organization on issues related to the integrated prevention program development and delivery. Works in collaboration with local partner agencies to develop integrated prevention communication strategies that align programs, resources, objectives and requirements with community needs and mission.
    • Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency. Completes and maintains credentialing, continuing education and certifications outlined for the prevention workforce and as necessary to provide required trainings (i.e., certification as a Master Resiliency Trainer and DoD SPARX Prevention Training). Attends trainings and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and leading developments regarding primary prevention of self-directed harm and prohibited abusive or harmful acts.

    BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

    Basic Requirements

    Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

    or

    Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

    or

    Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.


    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have or will have within 120 days of the closing of this announcement the 1 year specialized experience at the next lower grade level, GS-11 / NH-02. Examples of specialized experience include:

    2. Providing knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to prevention and resilience and the multiple uses of such systems.

    4. Providing in-depth knowledge of military culture, military family dynamics, and the unique challenges military families face.
    5. Working well in a team approach and effectively lead and chair committees, working groups, and teams.
