Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Care Coordination Department in our Vallejo Health Center. This role is full-time, 36 hours per week, on-site with flexible telecommuting. SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse will function as part of health center and/or Care Coordination department staff providing direct patient-centered care in surgical abortion clinic, family planning clinic and/or Care Coordination department under the clinical supervision of the Nurse Manager and in accordance with PPFA and PPNorCal Medical Standards and Guidelines and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PPNorCal RN include the following:

Adhere to PPNorCal Medical Standards and Guidelines while providing patient-centered care.

Work as an integral member of the outpatient clinical team utilizing detailed communication to ensure clinic and department flow is optimal.

Maintain excellent organizational skills, a sense of responsibility and a high level of motivation.

Work efficiently in a busy environment, often under pressure, without compromising accuracy, attention to detail, and courtesy to patients and staff.

Document in electronic health records accurately and thoroughly.

Maintain professional manner and patient confidentiality.

Dispense self-administered hormonal contraceptives and administer injections of hormonal contraceptives approved by the Federal Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in strict adherence to PPNorCal RN standardized procedures, PPNorCal MS&Gs, and US Medical Eligibility Criteria.

Refill medications per order of an Advanced Practice Clinician or physician.

Educate patients on sexually transmitted illnesses and reproductive/urinary tract infections signs, symptoms, etiology and treatment.

Educate patients on the female reproductive cycle and all contraceptive method options.

Consult with Advanced Practice Clinicians and the on-call physician appropriately.

Manage medical emergencies.

Support and actively participate in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives of PPNorCal.
ESSENCIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF RN IN SURGICAL ABORTION CLINIC

100% independent Telecommuting position, requires one day a week in-person at Vallejo Care coordination office.

Perform chart review by reviewing medical history, drug allergies, current medications, and labs of patients to address any special considerations and create a follow up plan.

Under the supervision of the lead clinician and following a standard operation procedure guidelines, RN will review large volume affiliate wide lab results and create managed care plans.

Lab reconciliation for the affiliate. Includes working directly with internal and external labs to gain results or follow up on missing results.

Triage: Provide education to patients regarding all medications that were administered, including their desired effects, side effects and risks.

Triage: Answer questions regarding the surgical abortion procedure, and aftercare.
-
Triage: Answer questions birth control use/side effects.
-
Manage medication refill requests.
-
Serve as a medical resource for PPNorCal staff.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Provide feedback to peers and Clinicians when discrepancies are found in results and/or follow-up plans.

Peer to peer training as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Successful completion of accredited Registered Nursing program.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge/experience with EHR & EPM systems. Knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Reliable automobile transportation and a valid CA Driver's License and insurance preferred.

Current California RN license.

Current ACLS and BLS certificate.

Direct patient care experience, preferably in women’s health/reproductive health care.

Knowledge of family planning and abortion procedures desired.

Pay Range: Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) supports California’s new law (SB 1162) enhancing pay transparency. This new law requires employers with 15 or more employees to include a pay range in job postings. The pay range reflects the compensation that a new employee can expect to receive if offered employment. Employees with more experience, education, and other qualifying factors may be compensated at a higher rate of pay. The pay range for this position is: $53.00 - $64.00 hourly
