Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef in the daily kitchen operations including menu development, purchasing, inventory, cost control, and sanitation. Oversees the activities of the kitchen staff and monitors food production and presentation. Being a Sous Chef resolves operational issues. Performs quality checks on ingredients and prepared dishes. Additionally, Sous Chef complies with all safety and food sanitation laws and regulations. Supervises, trains, and mentors staff. May require an associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent. Typically reports to an executive chef. The Sous Chef supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Sous Chef typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Job Summary
    We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to create innovative menus and prepare delicious meals as well as LEAD our team of Chefs, Line Cooks, and Dishwashers.  The ideal candidate is experienced, creative, and a strong leader.

    We ARE NOT seeking just a line cook - we ARE seeking a true experienced chef who can assist our Executive Chef in leading our kitchen brigade.


    Responsibilities: 
    • Assist Executive Chef in creating innovative menus according to the seasonal availability of ingredients and customer expectations.
    • Prepare and plate food according to kitchen specifications.
    • Assist Executive Chef with kitchen operations with a goal of increasing revenue and profit.
    • Supervise and coordinate all food preparation and presentation.
    • Provide training and leadership for kitchen staff.
    • Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and enforce strict portion and quality control standards.
    • Follow all food safety rules and regulations.

    Qualifications
    • High school diploma/GED.
    • Extensive previous culinary experience.
    • Certification from culinary school preferred.
    • ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification.
    • Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes.
    • Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure.
    • Excellent management and leadership skills.
