Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef in the daily kitchen operations including menu development, purchasing, inventory, cost control, and sanitation. Oversees the activities of the kitchen staff and monitors food production and presentation. Being a Sous Chef resolves operational issues. Performs quality checks on ingredients and prepared dishes. Additionally, Sous Chef complies with all safety and food sanitation laws and regulations. Supervises, trains, and mentors staff. May require an associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent. Typically reports to an executive chef. The Sous Chef supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Sous Chef typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Bettini Restaurant at the Harbor View Hotel is hiring an experienced Sous Chef.
The iconic Harbor View Hotel is located in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. For generations the hotel has represented a vacation oasis and a beacon of luxury. It sits in the best locale on the island, surrounded by miles of oceanfront overlooking Edgartown lighthouse and harbor.
Bettini is a modern, coastal American restaurant. Our menus are seasonal, inspired by the ingredients sourced from local farms and fisherman. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for breakfast and dinner. In addition, guests can enjoy our all-day menus by the hotel pool, sitting on our veranda overlooking the ocean, or for room service.
We are looking to add a passionate, motivated and experienced sous chef to join our management team. Ideal candidates will have previous managerial experience in high volume restaurants.
