Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef in the daily kitchen operations including menu development, purchasing, inventory, cost control, and sanitation. Oversees the activities of the kitchen staff and monitors food production and presentation. Being a Sous Chef resolves operational issues. Performs quality checks on ingredients and prepared dishes. Additionally, Sous Chef complies with all safety and food sanitation laws and regulations. Supervises, trains, and mentors staff. May require an associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent. Typically reports to an executive chef. The Sous Chef supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Sous Chef typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     The ideal candidate has a strong passion for culinary excellence and a keen eye for detail. You will assist in providing exceptional food quality and presentation. 

    Requirements

    • Oversee and assist the kitchen staff in all aspects of food production
    • Evaluate food products to ensure consistent quality standards
    • Establish and maintain a regular maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment
    • Provide training and professional development opportunities for all kitchen staff
    • Must LOVE FOOD
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Ability to create on the fly
    • Previous fine dining experience a plus
    • Previous experience with fish and butchery a plus
    • Ability to lead a team for success
    • Must possess own knives and knives must be sharp.
    • Open availability (days/nights/weekends/holidays)

    Qualifications

    • 2 years' of culinary or kitchen experience
    • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
    • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
