Soil Scientist studies, investigates, and conducts experiments on different soil/plant types to determine use capabilities of soils, and effects of alternative practices on soil productivity. Applies a wide range concepts, practices, and procedures from two or more specialized fields of science, such as agronomy, soil science, forestry, or agriculture. Being a Soil Scientist may require a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences or a related field with at least 5 years of work experience. May direct the work of a small group of employees. Additionally, Soil Scientist relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Typically reports to a senior manager and may be considered the lead for a specific area or unit. Senior/Principal Scientist

  • Serán is searching for a Senior or Principal Scientist to lead a team in Dosage Form Development. The role requires a combination of technical expertise and leadership skills to allow the team to collectively deliver high quality results on client projects. In addition to oversight of client-facing deliverables, the successful candidate will develop processes and training to improve transfer of process and formulation information into the GMP manufacturing environment.


    The Senior or Principal Scientist will also have the opportunity to expand and improve the technical capabilities, work streams, and capacity of the dosage form offering of the rapidly growing company. Importantly, the candidate will be expected to strategically balance improvements between development, clinical, and commercial manufacturing areas. A strong knowledge of the industry combined with a passion for collaboration will be required for this endeavor.

    • May oversee the daily workflow of the department

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Independently develops experimental protocols and templates based on project need
    • Identifies and develops new technologies
    • Independently summarizes, reports, and analyzes data to draw conclusions and proposes next steps
    • Identifies out of trend data, forms hypothesis and investigates
    • Evaluates data and draws conclusions across data sets/projects
    • Independently interfaces with client, project management & operations to manage timelines and workplans and to effectively communicate technical information
    • Acts as the technical point of contact for external partners
    • Independently leads projects, and may act as SME to provide support and guidance for other projects
    • Independently authors technical reports and presentations
    • Independently defines problem statements and develops and manages workplans
    • Contributes to developing and executing cross-functional program and product development strategy
    • Mentors or manages
    • Other related duties as assigned

    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate


    Education and Experience
    • B.S. in Science or Engineering discipline with 10 years experience
    • M.S. in Science or Engineering discipline with 8 years experience
    • PhD in Science or Engineering discipline with 3 years experience


    Physical Requirements
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
    • Motor skills required for basic laboratory operations (pouring liquids, using utensils to transfer powders, visual assessments)
