    As a multi-discipline firm, Isett provides a full range of engineering and consulting services, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, environmental, geotechnical, and municipal engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, code enforcement, plan review, construction management, construction materials testing, and grant writing services to clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.


    Our Environmental Consulting department has an opportunity for a full-time Environmental Scientist. The preferred candidate will also serve as a Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO) for several of our municipal clients.


    This is an entry-level field/office position. The candidate may be based in any of our 9 office locations and will be expected to commute to project sites and other offices, as needed. In addition to performing the duties listed below, the candidate must be capable of independent work, be able to read topographic maps, site plans, and aerial photographs, and have strong writing skills. This position will require you to work independently and as part of a team, so we need very good communicators who are able to multi-task and work well with others. Therefore, the desire and motivation to contribute within the firm as needs/opportunities arise is an important attribute.


    Responsibilities

    • Perform soil profile evaluations from both soil cores and test pits and perform soil infiltration testing.
    • Perform site investigation and soil testing for stormwater management and on-site septic and disposal systems.
    • Prepare technical reports.
    • Conduct soil interpretation.
    • Perform Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments.
    • Perform multi-media environmental sampling and provide oversight of monitoring well installation.
    • Permit application preparation.
    • Attend meetings with clients.
    • Communications with staff, clients, and regulators.
    • Establish/maintain professional relationships with coworkers and clients.

    Requirements

    • B.S. in Soil Science, Agronomy, Geology or Environmental Science.
    • Wetland identification and soils evaluation skills preferred.
    • Ability to obtain PA DEP SEO Certification through the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors [PSATS] Sewage Enforcement Officer Academy.
    • Knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD, a plus.
    • Ability to lift (up to) 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work extended hours (as necessary) and in various weather conditions.
    • Current, valid driver’s license, and ability to obtain PA clearances/background checks.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
