  • Summary

    POSITION PURPOSE:

    Supervise activities of Compound Testers and all other lab personal.  Supervisor will make sure that all tire component testing and auditing and calibrations of lab equipment is done efficiently and correctly. Technician supervisor will perform all jobs safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant.  

    Responsibilities

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:

    • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to analyze product in a safe efficient manner that meets or exceeds both regulatory and company requirements.
    • Monitor QA Technicians and Compound Testers to ensure they are compliant with policies, procedures, SOPs, FMEA, and process flow; control plans and standards related to tire manufacturing.
    • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of ISO 9001/TS 16949 & IS0 14001.
    • Preform process capability studies on lab data and inform Quality Assurance Manager on variation and changes needed for improvements.
    • Ensure proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of business while maintaining target labor costs.
    • Lead improvement activities related to Safety, Environment, Human, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
    • Monitor proper handling and usage of all equipment, tools and support materials, and lab supplies.
    • Responsible for training of all lab employees.
    • Responsible for assisting in training of all operators.
    • Conduct testing, monitoring, and documentation of quality results along with assisting in processing of data to reduce variation in tire components.
    • Assist with production lab equipment PM, repairs and calibrations as needed and required.
    • Audit incoming raw material documentation to ensure that they are properly reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
    • Maintain accurate documentation.
    • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, as well as work overtime as needed.
    • Assist with chemical inventory and tracking system.
    • Maintain good housekeeping in laboratory and other work areas based on 5s.
    • Perform other duties as requested.

    Knowledge and Skills

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
    • Ability to independently execute detailed work-plans
    • Analytical thought process
    • Effective written/oral communication

    Education and Experience

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Must have 2 years of supervision or management experience and a four-year degree
    • 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

       - HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

       - AA DEGREE - Minimum

    X - BACHELOR’S DEGREE - Preferred

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

    • Stand and walk on hard surfaces for long periods of time, up to 4 hours at a time.
    • Stand/remain upright and stationary, walk, kneel, bend, turn, stoop and squat repetitively
    • Stand/remain upright and stationary for long periods of time, up to 4 hours at a time.
    • Reach forward and overhead repeatedly.
    • Wear personal protective equipment such as (lab coat, gloves, face mask, etc.), when necessary.
    • Lift up to 50lb weight.
    • Lift a 100 – 120 lbs. tire to the upright position
