  • Director - Quality Assurance

    Madison, WI

    Position Description: Empirico, a biotechnology company that combines unmatched expertise in human genetics-driven target discovery with world-class capabilities in siRNA drug discovery, is looking for an experienced, quality-focused individual to implement and manage Empirico’s Quality Management System. As Director of Quality Assurance, you will work with internal team members and external partners to ensure Empirico meets Quality standards for its drug development programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated, creative and organized individual to be a vital member of a team of experts dedicated to identifying new disease targets and translating those insights into therapeutic programs

    Responsibilities:

    Using knowledge and experience in the drug development industry, you will implement phase appropriate Quality Assurance documentation and practices. You will be expected to:

    • Provide Quality oversight, in collaboration with internal and external sources, to ensure that operations products are manufactured, tested, stored, and distributed according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and other applicable regulations
    • Author/review/approve quality documents such as: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, training materials, manufacturing records and change control while working collaboratively with other stakeholders
    • Communicate with and host meetings to train colleagues about ways to improve Quality
    • Ensure that changes that could potentially impact product quality are assessed according to Quality procedures
    • Collaborate with, and provide Quality support for, other specialists (Bioanalytical, DMPK, Manufacturing, Project Management, Toxicology, Clinical Operations, etc.)
    • Participate in meetings with vendors and other external organizations as the Quality Assurance representative
    • Alert senior management of quality, compliance, supply and safety risks
    • Interact with the Executive Team and functional area leaders to highlight key questions, risks, mitigation, milestones, and progress relative to Empirico’s drug development objectives

    Requirements:

    • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field
    • At least 5 years of relevant Quality Assurance experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or related industry
    • Proficiency in the use and implementation of QMS platforms, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and project management tools
    • Previous experience with GMP/GLP/GCP quality systems
    • Ability to participate in audits and qualification of external partners
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with diverse operational teams, both within and outside the company, to establish credibility with project partners (such as CROs, CMOs and internal stakeholders).
    • Experience working in a regulatory environment
    • Familiarity with the process, language and tools of drug discovery and development
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task
    • A detail-oriented self-starter who endeavors to anticipate and resolve problems and seeks opportunities to grow their role and responsibilities at Empirico
    • Ability for occasional business travel

    The estimated annual base salary range for this role is $119,000 to $190,000. Individual compensation decisions will be based on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
