Business Area:
Global Engineering and Real Estate (GERE) works closely with the Operations, R&D and Commercial functions within AstraZeneca to deliver major capital investments for the company (typically over $10million). The capital expansion program involves the engineering, construction and qualification of both new and growing assets. In addition to the asset provision activities, Global Engineering supports the Business by providing technical support to sites and other global functions. Global Engineering is made up of a mixture of Project Managers, Project Control Specialists, Project Technical Managers and Subject Matter Experts. These positions fit into project teams and work directly with third party design and construction partners to deliver facilities that meet AstraZeneca’s requirements for safety, quality, time and cost.
This exciting role within Global Engineering, will be centred on working either within project teams or on your own initiative in support of overseeing design, installation and commissioning of Electrical & Control systems within the North America region.
Approximately 20% of your time will be spent travelling within the North America region.
Responsibilities:
As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in electrical engineering, your technical knowledge and experience will enable you to prioritize your efforts into areas of high risk, to review and comment on designs effectively, and to quickly resolve any issues which may arise. Stakeholder engagement and management is key to the success of this position.
You'll work closely with Project Managers and Project Technical Managers to ensure the technical scope of any projects are aligned with both business and project needs. You'll be involved in setting technical direction for the design work carried out by external consultants and contractors.
Responsible for evaluating the technical competence of design and construction contractors supporting the Project Manager in their selection for projects.
You'll provide engineering technical support for AstraZeneca due diligence projects, ensuring that standards, processes and validations are all appropriate and that technical learnings are captured and disseminated post project completion.
You'll be involved in multiple projects concurrently and will need to effectively communicate with clients / end users and designers to ensure efficient technical solutions are provided.
