Kforce's client, a growing and established Financial Services company is seeking a Remote PHP Software Development Manager. We are working directly with the hiring manager on this search assignment. This position is 100% remote. This role will not be coding, however previous coding experience is required in PHP, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the application development efforts within the company's software portfolio by overseeing the creation and/or maintenance of databases, programs, and web pages for end users
- Will manage a team of highly skilled PHP Developers in Large Scale Multi-Million Dollar Development Project
- Oversee the software development lifecycles for departmental projects including requirements definition, design, specification, development, testing
- Participate in systems design sessions with users and Business Analysts to develop complete specifications on all applications, systems and databases
- Will manage PHP modernization effort
- Build business solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications
- Manage and mentor a team of 8-10 Developers
- Create coding patterns to be used by less experienced teammates
- Monitor operation performance/metrics for team to maximize productivity, efficiency, and compliance levels
- Identify, track, and monitor trends and avoidable technology-related errors; Work across functions to develop complex solutions, improvements, and stop-gaps
- Write, test and debug customizations and new features using best practices and adhering to coding standards
- Manage application development personnel; responsible for employee selection, coaching, professional development, goal setting, and providing formal and informal feedback
- Technology environment: PHP, Laravel, AWS Lambda, Node.js, TypeScript, Apigee, Kafka, Twilio, Sendinblue, JSON, RESTful API, SAML, React, Node.js, SQL, MariaDB, DevOps, git, AWS, Rackspace Cloud, Linux, Ubuntu, Nginx
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another field preferred
- At least 4-7 years of Front-line management experience (Hiring, Evaluations, Reviews, etc.)
- 8-10 years of experience in previous PHP software/web development related role(s)
- Familiarity with JavaScript/jQuery, AJAX/JSON, CSS and CSS Preprocessors is a plus
- Recent or previous experience at creating and consuming REST APIs
- Event-Drive Architecture experience
- Strong in eventing models, pub sub, publishing subscribing models
- Experience with AWS is preferred or other cloud technologies
- Experience with Laravel is preferred or other Frameworks such as CodeIgniter, Symfony, Laminas Project, Yii, CakePHP, Slim, etc.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript frameworks
- Previous PHP development experience
- Proven experience with Test Driven or Behavior Driven Development Methodologies
- Advanced SQL skills
- Advanced debugging skills
- Experience development teams in Multi-Million Large Scale Enterprise projects is highly desired
- Understand microservices, docker/containerization, understanding CI/CD is desired
- Experience in Mission Critical Production Environments is desired
- Experience with IBM I Power Systems is a plus
- Experience with distributed transactions is a plus
- Experience in the Financial Services or Mortgage Industry is a plus
- Knowledge of React or another advanced framework is a plus
- Financial industry is nice to have
- Familiar with distributed transactions, taking a transaction and passing it through multiple systems is a plus
