Supervisor of Software Quality Engineering

  • The Supervisor of Software Quality Engineering will lead a group of Software Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering staff, overseeing end to end QA Analysis and test automation quality engineers, whose mission is to assure the quality of Paycom’s revolutionary HR/Payroll software throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). This role is challenged with improving and innovating quality assurance / quality engineering practices while balancing both new feature qualification and automation requirements. This leader will have excellent knowledge of the software development lifecycle, test methodologies and tools, and passion for quality processes. Responsible for improving reliability of new software development processes, maintaining company quality standard; and reviewing quality assurance / quality engineering processes and systems on an ongoing basis to determine where improvements can be made.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide technical and personnel leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Software Quality department workforce.
    • Able to assign tasks, estimate times and track progress.
    • Create Reports, Track and Monitor set KPIs. Keep QA leadership updated.
    • Proactively apprise the QA leadership of any process gaps or issues that are foreseen.
    • Suggest technical solutions and keep an eye for continual improvement.
    • Assist in recruiting process.
    • Ensure that the team follows the Set vision, objectives, and key results (OKRs) for Paycom’s Software Quality department workforce.
    • Ensure that the Software Quality department is meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) for software quality.
    • Be a strong advocate for quality in the product development process for software engineering.
    • Work with stakeholders and functional areas across the business/enterprise to understand and develop sustainable processes that enable solution development, integration, and delivery at continually increasing levels of quality.
    • Ensure best practices and strategies to enhance the software development department’s quality assurance processes, technical and functional capabilities are followed.
    • Accountable for the performance and results of the Software Quality department Workforce.
    • Ensure quality assurance personnel are working within software development delivery teams to provide timely quality assurance that enable delivery of projects, on time, in scope.
    • Lead efforts to collaborate with internal teams to produce training products and services that improve quality processes within the Software Quality department organization.
    • Supervise a QA team and be responsible for carrying out quality assurance objectives within the software development organization.
    • Communicate resource needs to leadership and within appropriate management channels and recommend a plan to fill resource and skill gaps.
    • Evaluate and develop talent in the team. Assist in recruiting process.


    Education/Certification:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or related degree; Similar education combinations may be considered for Bachelor’s degree holders outside of the listed majors.

    Experience:

    • 5 years of experience leading software development and/or software development quality assurance projects/teams
    • Software Development Life Cycle / Software Development Experience
    • Experience setting methodology standards and training across large, disparate teams
    • Knowledge and coding experience in at least one automation framework.
    • Experience managing complex projects and/or process improvement initiatives and presenting plans of action, risk management, and status reports to QA senior leadership
    • Ability to technically mentor the team and set the team up for success
    • Experience with ISO 9001:2015 or similar other quality management systems
    • Proven experience in technically mentoring the team


    Skills/Abilities:

    • Deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
    • Ability to demonstrate coding experience in at least one programming language.
    • Deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
    • Deep understanding of Software Quality Assurance Processes and Automated Testing
    • Ability to technically mentor the team and set the team up for success
    • Understanding of solution architecture, technical architecture methodologies
    • Knowledge of change management process
    • A results-oriented approach to solving problems
    • Comfortable in fast paced environment
    • Collaborative leader that is able to give and take feedback
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationship with others

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience:

    • DevOps experience a plus / Scrum of Scrum experience a plus

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Understanding of Accessibility / Section 508 and related testing processes
    • Knowledge of project management principles
