Pay Range: $85,000.00 - $240,000.00/yr
Position Introduction:Cimarron is seeking mid-level to Subject Matter Expert (SME) Flight Safety and System Test Engineers to support range safety and test activities on weapon airborne precision engagement platforms in St. Charles, MO.
Key Duties for Mid to Senior-Level Engineers:
- Develop, design, test, and certify hardware/software for airborne flight safety systems.
- Identify required products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes/technologies.
- Generate electrical schematics using design (e.g. AutoCAD, UG) and simulation tools (e.g. PSPICE).
- Author instrumentation system performance specifications and subsystem interface documentation.
- Develop instrumentation architectural block diagrams.
- Coordinate system fabrication, integration, modification, setup, checkout, and teardown.
- Identify test requirements and determine test methods.
- Obtain flight clearances from the customer for installed configurations.
- Review and approve detailed equipment designs, test plans, and test procedures.
- Develop and implement qualification/certification test programs and procedures required for systems with extremely high performance and reliability requirements.
- Assist in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods.
- Develop test procedures and instrumentation/configuration definitions.
- Participate in the evaluation of test performance data.
- Review test data for accuracy, quality, and/or fidelity prior to delivery to the customer.
- Prepare, analyze, and report test results to verify and validate the design and performance meet government, regulatory, customer, and program compliance requirements.
- Identify certification issues and determine the appropriate action to resolve the issues while meeting the program schedule.
- Perform metrology services (e.g. calibration, certification, maintenance) on all related instruments and equipment.
Additional Responsibilities for Senior to SME-Level Engineers:
- Mentor and lead the technical engineering team.
- Serve as the key technical interface for the engineering team to the customer.
- Provide range flight safety expertise concerning range safety operational risk management planning, provisioning, executing, and reporting, including range interactions to meet RCC 319 requirements.
- Help the program assess adherence to established range flight safety risk criteria, standards, methodologies, processes, and procedures.
- Participate, review, investigate, and coordinate range flight safety operational risk management efforts and present recommendations to risk acceptors through the airworthiness and flight safety review process.
- Recommend mitigation techniques, and/or acceptance or rejection of equivalent level of safety and waivers to range flight safety risk requirements.
- All of the duties described above are for SME-level candidates. The scope of the duties assigned to mid-level and senior-level engineers will be more limited, performed with less independence, and will be less complex.
Required Skills:Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
- 3 or more years of experience with precision test equipment and measurement devices.
- 5 or more years of experience with Flight Test Programs and the generation/execution of Flight Test plans and procedures, as well as the analysis and coordination of Test results.
- Ability to build and monitor color-coded safety analysis displays to support real-time test missions.
- Ability to accurately differentiate between Red/Orange/Yellow/Green/Blue etc. colors during real-time flight test missions.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, telemetry, and data processing.
- Knowledge of software Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V).
- Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
Additional Required Skills, Experience, and Education for Senior to SME-Level Candidates:
- Flight Termination Systems experience, including:
- RCC-319 qualification, pyrotechnics, and telemetry systems.
- Flight test equipment experience.
- Missile design experience, including strength analysis, loads, castings, and propulsion.
- Previous technical leadership experience.
