Software Architect jobs in Tennessee

Cimarron is seeking mid to senior-level Architects to support facility upgrades and operations at Arnold Engineering and Development Center (AEDC), the nation's primary wind-tunnel complex for the development of next generation US Air Force aircraft, at Arnold Airforce Base in Tennessee. Multiple wind-tunnel facility projects are planned or currently underway. Upgrades include improvements and new designs for structures, high-pressure gas systems, piping, electrical power and distribution, and more. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges, and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world.

Key Duties:

• Provide architectural design and coordination for building renovations and upgrades, including layouts and architectural finishes.
• Receive instructions on assignment objectives, including complex features, and offer possible solutions.
• Provide assistance on unusual problems and review work.
• Work closely with design engineers in the development of architectural and design requirements and ensure proposed designs meet those requirements.
• Coordinate with the project tea to ensure economic designs.
• Plan architectural layout, and prepare detailed architectural design and layout drawings for small structures and portions of buildings.
• Prepare specifications, estimates, and scope of work documents for design/build subcontract work.
• Perform design reviews of documents produced by design/build subcontractors.
• Provide support for design/build subcontracted work, including quantity take-offs, estimates, requests for information, submittal reviews, inspections, and change orders.
• Prepare building material interface details
• Prepare architectural designs and construction drawings using 2-D/3-D computer aided design (CAD), presentation graphics, and architectural models.
• Provide technical direction as appropriate to drafters, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments
• Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines during planning, design, and execution phases of projects.
• Contact supplier representatives, project field personnel, and engineering discipline groups when directed, to gather or provide information.
• Participate in studies that require knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in architectural work.
• Assist in on-the-job training and development of people assigned.

• Wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Cimarron employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university, and 3 or more years of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and progressive/relevant work experience.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

• 10 or more years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and progressive/relevant work experience.
• Technical knowledge of architectural concepts, basic engineering interrelationships, and applications of construction methods and materials.
• Technical knowledge of the application of computer aided engineering (CAE)/computer aided design (2-D and 3-D CAD) tools to architectural problems.
• Good knowledge of the industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the architectural discipline.
• Basic skills in verbal and written communication.
• A degree in Architecture from an accredited course of study.
• A license to practice Architecture from a recognized licensing board.
• Experience reviewing subcontractor submittals for compliance with design requirements.
• Holds an active security clearance or has held a security clearance.
