Software Architect
Reports To: Director of Platform Engineering

The Impact you Will Have:
As a Software Architect you will play a critical role by collaborating closely with team members and product owners to architect and build product solutions, starting with the new Crucial Learning Platform. You will be responsible for a Headless Content Management System architecture, content model and it's integration into the Crucial Learning Platform. You will partner with another architect to lead the software engineers on the team to ensure they fulfill technical, operational, and business requirements. You will partner with the other architect to ensure a successful CI/CD environment, ensuring high standards for security, scalability and resilience are met within AWS, coordinating with the SDETs in overall quality assessment and partner with product management leadership in major launches. You will report to the Director of Platform Engineering.
What You'll Do:
- Design and maintain the Headless Content Management System, content model specifications and design the integration into the API.
- Work with the Product team to plan and architect new product and platform solutions.
- Participate in designing, implementing, and maintaining relevant product and platform integrations for operational infrastructure including enterprise data integration.
- Solve complex problems using knowledge, passion, and curiosity.
- Help build and deliver world-class cloud-based products.
- Apply industry standard best practices for secure coding, application development, services configuration, management, and deployment within AWS.
- Drive robust, maintainable, and scalable software across our product architecture and platforms.
- Drive an excellent end-user experience, continually raising the bar on functionality, usability, and simplicity.
- Develop simple, elegant, resilient, and elastic infrastructure that anticipates rapid growth and iteration.
- Ensure a high-level of quality development is conducted on your team by their performing thorough testing and leveraging peer reviews for their work and the work of cross functional teams.
What You'll Need:
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on software product development experience (preferably SaaS) including a minimum of 7 years of experience with analysis, design, and programming in a multi-product software development organization.
- Extensive experience with architectural design using Headless Content Management Systems
- Extensive experience with data model design in Headless Content Management Systems
- Extensive experience with integration of Headless Content Management Systems with API and web sites
- Extensive experience in successful development and deployment of cloud-based solutions, full-stack competencies, elastic and resilient microservices.
- Must have significant experience with JVM & Javascript polyglot and Spring. Preferred experience with projects involving identity, relationship, and permissions management.
- Extensive experience with AWS (or similar cloud) Technologies: ECS, EC2, Elasticache, S3, Route53, Secret Manager, CodeBuild, CloudFormation, Cloud Watch, IAM
- Experience driving technical projects, prioritizing work, identifying dependencies, facilitating technical decision, driving quality, reviewing user stories, and managing remote teams.
- Broad experience in relational and document databases, data structure composition, caching and reporting (with data lake / data mesh / BI experience a plus). MongoDB experience preferred.
- Extensive experience with continuous integration and automated build tools technologies with Maven and Gradle
- Preferred strong experience with solutions leveraging ServiceWorker, webRTC, WebSockets, learning technologies (eg SCORM, LTI, etc), xAPI, PWA
- Experience with creating technical diagrams, designs, documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Experience with communicating technology to non-technical people.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with accompanying experience in successfully leading and mentoring a team of software engineers.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
