Duties: Establish close, collaborative relationship with the development teams. Represent development in a wide variety for forums, from tool vendor negotiations to engineering forums, and leadership teams. Establish best practices for common tool and platform usage and approaches, driving standardization and cost efficiencies where possible, including secure software development principles (DevSecOps). Produce software tool and platform roadmaps aligning with segment strategy and vision, as well as business and operational priorities, producing architectural definitions, implementation plans, along with standards definition and upkeep. Manage vendor relationships, driving engineering needs into strategic plans, and leading associated tool evaluations and POCs. Partner with Asset Management and Procurement on vendor contract reviews along with license management, developing a broad understanding and reporting capabilities for the development tools landscape. Guide/Help/Assist SW ENG Tools operational teams in mapping operations plans, consultative guidance, and direct support where needed to the engineering software groups. Represent EDA needs and requirements as an active member of the Electronic System Design Alliance committee and input to the OS Roadmap plans for EDA companies. Explore new technology in the market regarding software development trends, tools, and practices, sharing across engineering groups as appropriate.
Requirements : This position requires a Bachelor's degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or in a related field and 60 months of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. This position requires experience in the following: Waterfall to agile (SAFe), cloud native to traditional on-premise, and CICD pipeline development approaches; Working with software development tools including modern compilers, code management., test and security tools (Static and Dynamic), build automation tools, CICD tools, collaboration, and req management; Support of Software development practices, comprising of general compilation, build and testing practices; Supporting users in both Windows and Linux environments in a system administration capacity, including the required infrastructure services including virtualization, shared storage, GRID, and service monitoring; Roadmap review, driving requirements into product roadmaps, and eval/POC organization and management. 10% of telecommuting permitted within commutable distance.
