  • Job Summary:

    Responsible for counting and balancing all currency/coins received from various live games, slot bill validators and other revenue envelopes. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Saracen Casino Resort’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

     

    Essential Functions And Responsibilities 

    • The Count Room Clerk is responsible for counting and balancing all currency/coins received from various live games, slot bill validators and other revenue envelopes.
    • Opens pit boxes, sorts and counts the currency inside the box using the money counting machine. 
    • Inputs totals by box number or table number in the computer. 
    • Compares total fill and credit, openers and closers with the system generated reports.
       Opens the revenue envelopes, sorts and counts the currency inside using the currency counting machine. 
    • Compares total amount of currency in the revenue envelope against amounts recorded on envelope and records any variance.
    • Opens slot validators, sorts and counts the currency inside the validators using the currency counting machine. 
    • Sorts and bundles all soft currency according to denomination. 
    • Totals and balances the same against the computer totals and with Accounting. Matches the white and yellow copies of jackpot and fill slips.
    • Prepares all the necessary reports in accordance with the state gaming regulations and company policies and procedures.
    • Remits all tallied soft currency to the Cage and the necessary reports to Accounting.
    • Maintains the general cleanliness of the soft count room at all times. Performs other duties as may be assigned. 
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos. 
    • Ability to; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. 
    • Ability to carry out detailed oral or written instructions; and ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 
    • Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times.   Maintains a professional work environment with supervisors and staff.
    • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
    • Attends all necessary training meetings.
    • Assist in other projects, as directed.
    • Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed.  Hours are determined by 24-hour schedule.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. 

    • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age or older upon employment.
    • High school diploma or its equivalency required.
    • At least six (6) months of experience in cash handling, previous operation or knowledge of currency counter preferred, perform basic math skills
    • Carry out a wide range of financial transactions and handle any paperwork that may be required. 
    • Use adding machines, and computers to calculate and record transactions. 
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, 
    • Understand and comply with all gaming, company and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Must follow a number of rules and regulations related to their handling of money. 
    • Experience in handling money or previous casino employment is preferred. 
    • Prospective gaming workers are sometimes required to pass a basic math test, and they must be careful, orderly, and detail-oriented to avoid making errors and to recognize errors made by others. 
    • These workers also should be discreet and trustworthy because they frequently come in contact with confidential material. 
    • Good customer service skills and computer proficiency are also necessary for this occupation. 
    • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States. 
    • Must present a well-groomed and professional appearance.
    • Must possess excellent communication skills.
    • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues.
    • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
    • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
    • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
    • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
    • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
    • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Maintain manual dexterity to access computer via computer keyboard and operate 10-key calculator.
    • Reaches with hands and arms; talk or hear; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. 
    • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust.
    • Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
    • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
